12 Principles of Animation

Learning Outcome

Students will be able to identify the twelve principles of animation and apply them in an animated shot, including timing, staging, anticipation, and overlapping action.

Expressive Drawing

Learning Outcome

Students will be able to put the basic theories of gesture drawing into practice as well as principles of design, such as shape language, abstraction, and caricature, and show how to use them when creating animated characters.

Storytelling in Motion

Learning Outcome

Students will be able to deconstruct the basic elements of storytelling needed to develop a story from moving images. Students will be able to use interactions between character, conflict, and setting, to convey a story in animated form.
