Demonstrate compassion within the nursing role regarding patient's healthcare experience regardless of gender, race, religion, values, experience, or life choices of each individual patient.

1. Identify major clinical indications and uses of medications according to pharmacological drug classifications. 2. Identify the primary pharmacological actions of specified medications according to drug classification. 3. Recognize possible common side effects of a medication and the related appropriate interventions. 4. Identify major contraindications to administration of medications within a pharmacological drug classification. 5. Identify common drug/drug and drug/food interactions for medications within a pharmacological drug classification.

Describe pharmacological interventions as they relate to the nursing process: assessment, intervention, and evaluation.

1. Recognize professional responsibility to educate society regarding pharmaceutical agents, interactions, adverse effects, and individual client healthcare. 2. Describe and identify societal attitudes regarding pharmaceutical agent administration. 3. Identify ways in which nurses and nursing practice can influence society (neighbors, family, politically).

1. Utilize the health care team as educators and discern those able and willing to disseminate information throughout professional career. 2. Retrieve current research and compare and contrast current pharmaceutical practice with research. Be able to evaluate "Best Practice" within healthcare system throughout lifetime. 3. Obtain ability to locate and evaluate pharmaceutical research at a novice level using databases and search engines.
